Northwestern Exploring MOOCs
While many of its peer institutions have partnered with, or helped start, massive open online course (MOOC) providers like Coursera or edX, Northwestern University has remained on the sidelines. That may be changing though.
In an e-mail to Northwestern's campus newspaper, a university spokesman said that the school is exploring MOOCs. The e-mail did not provide any details about whether the university is considering partnering with an outside company or developing its own distribution platform.
Some Northwestern professors have already begun developing and offering MOOCs on their own. Their efforts are currently drawing small crowds, about 6,000 students, as far as MOOCs go.
