Australia Launches Its First MOOC Provider

A new Massive Open Online Course provider has launched in the land down-under. OpenLearning, which was started by two graduates from the University of New South Wales, is designed to consciously emulate the interactive nature of pre-existing social media sites by building on the familiar forum framework. Students are expected to participate in discussion threads and receive points for voting comments up and down.

The platform, which debuted with a 12-week long engineering and computer science course from the University of New South Wales, also includes a wiki feature that allows students and professors to collaborate on developing detailed study material.
