Online Education Journal to Host MOOC on MOOCs
December 24th, 2012 by Alex Wukman
Hybrid Pedagogy, an online education journal, will host a massive open online course (MOOC) about massive open online courses. The course, which is being delivered through the Canvas Network, runs from January 6 to January 13.
Despite having previously offered a MOOC on MOOCs, the editorial board of Hyrbid Pedagogy felt that the subject warranted further study. The explosive growth of MOOCs throughout 2012 has brought many of the questions that originally plagued online education back to the forefront of education and has led some academics to question whether MOOCs can even be called courses.
Instructors Sean Michael Morris and Jesse Stommel will utilize Twitter chats and Google Docs to expand the course beyond the Canvas Network. The class is being designed to deconstruct and reconstruct the concept of MOOCs and allow class participants to examine where learning happens in MOOCs.
